Our White Lady AUS

Snowy's Story

This is Our White Lady arriving with Roger Payne (a dear friend of mine) unloading her here at Norsire Farm.

Our White Lady is a Jockey Club Registered Imported Australian Mare.  She was born October 22, 1991, which sounds late, but is the equivalent to a March foal in the USA, since Australia is on the southern hemisphere.  Our White Lady is the only white horse of any breed ever born in the southern hemisphere.  When she was 3 years old, Warner Bros. Movie Productions (Australia branch)  tried to buy her and offered her then owner $50,000.00, only to be turned down flat.

She went on to the race track to be a race horse which didn't prove to be worth while, as the track administrators banned her from the track during the regular morning hours to train.  She was allowed to train after everyone else was done training for the day which didn't give her the needed experience to exercise along side another horse, like it would be in a race.  The reason being that when a lot of the horses saw her they would run off uncontrollably with there riders or jump over the railing to get away from the ghost like horse running down the track after them.  She did actually start and race, since they couldn't ban her from racing, it became such as hassle to train her after hours, they just simply gave up trying to race her.

She then went to live on Barry Seale 1,000 Plus acre farm in Queensland,   where she was pampered to death as they thought of her as royalty!  When I bought her from Barry I was told, I must bathe her every 2 weeks with human shampoo, that horse shampoo was too harsh  for her delicate pink skin and to braid her mane over and keep it 4 feet long as he did.  I have kept up the mane and never pulled it as it is just breath taking  when she is freshly bathed and thatbrigball.gif (24046 bytes) long mane is flowing as she romps through the fields.  I do use horse shampoo and she is fine with it, and I don't do it every two weeks.  Sorry Barry!  The reason Barry kept her mane so long is, when Warner Bros. tried to buy her they were told to let her mane grow as long as possible, that the longer the mane the more they would pay for a horse for commercials and movies.

When Our white Lady arrived here she was in excellent condition!  I was surprised at how good she came through the 3 week to the day trip. ( more later must go fold some clothes the dryer is calling me, tune in soon for the rest of her trip, her life here and her up coming foal)
